New Delhi, 10 January. A gunman who shot and killed six people in Mississippi, USA, has been taken into custody. Local news agencies and police reported that the shooting occurred late Friday night.

According to WTVA, associated with NBC News, the suspect opened fire at three different locations.

Cley County Sheriff Eddy Scott stated in a social media post, “The suspect is in custody, and he no longer poses a threat to our community.”

While Reuters reported that no specific number of fatalities was given in the sheriff’s post, WTVA confirmed that six people had died.

Scott urged the public to keep the victims and their families in their prayers through a Facebook message.

Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s motives or identity.
