Significant Crackdown on illegal mining Activities
In a major operation against illegal mining, Rajasthan Police seized nearly 10,000 kilograms of explosive materials from a deserted farmhouse in Nagaur district ahead of Republic Day. One individual was arrested during the operation, which has exposed a large Smuggling Network in the area.
Identification and Arrest of Suspect
The suspect, identified as Suleman Khan, was taken into custody following a joint raid by the District Special Team and local police. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Mridul Kachhawa, the raid took place late Saturday night in Harsaur village, where 9,550 kilograms of Ammonium Nitrate was found packed in 187 bags.
Explosives Linked to Previous Attacks
Officials noted that ammonium nitrate has been linked to several significant explosions in the past, including an incident near the Red Fort in Delhi in November 2025. Along with ammonium nitrate, police confiscated a substantial amount of other explosive materials, such as nine cartons of detonators and various bundles of fuse wires.
SP Kachhawa stated that initial inquiries revealed that the accused was allegedly supplying explosive materials to individuals involved in both legal and illegal mining activities. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act, and central agencies have been informed about the seizure. Comprehensive investigations are underway, and Suleman Khan will be interrogated further.
