Ranchi police recovered the body of a man who was found hanging late Tuesday night, four days after he allegedly shot dead his wife. The deceased has been identified as Tauqir Ansari, a resident of Manitolly Waris Chowk area under Doranda police station.
According to police, on the afternoon of 24 January, Tauqir Ansari reportedly shot his wife, Tarannum Parveen, resulting in her death. Following the incident, he went missing. A murder case was registered at Doranda police station, and search operations for Tauqir were ongoing.
Police officials said the complaint was filed by the deceased’s brother, Mohammad Mojahid, after being informed by Tauqir’s aunt about the murder. Upon arriving at his sister’s residence, Mojahid was told by his nephew Arham that Tauqir had shot his mother in the head, then laid the body on the bed with a firearm in her hand.
The police complaint also alleged that Tauqir had subjected his wife to prolonged mental and physical harassment. It was reported that Tauqir had a relationship with another woman, which Tarannum Parveen opposed. This dispute was considered the primary motive behind the killing. Both Tauqir and the woman were named as accused in the case.
Following the murder, police conducted raids at multiple locations to apprehend Tauqir. However, before being caught, he allegedly took his own life by hanging.
The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Authorities stated that a thorough investigation is underway, and further action will be based on the post-mortem report and other findings.
