Mumbai, March 7: Political tensions are rising following a breach of protocol during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to West Bengal. Independent MP Pappu Yadav has responded to the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability.
In an interview with a news agency, Yadav stated, “I cannot comment on the circumstances, but if President Murmu felt disrespected, I apologize on behalf of our region. I am unaware of what happens elsewhere.” He further questioned the respect shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Murmu towards autonomous institutions, highlighting a perceived erosion of federalism in the country.
Yadav asserted, “The Constitution of India is paramount, and if anyone has violated the law, action should be taken against them.”
Meanwhile, during a visit to Kerala, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, suggesting he should be imprisoned for corruption. This led to CPI leaders labeling Gandhi as part of the BJP’s ‘B team,’ a claim Yadav dismissed as baseless.
He remarked, “There is an ideological battle in many states. Rahul Gandhi did not target any party. If there are allegations of corruption against the CM, those issues should be raised. If Congress believes that BJP members are showing leniency towards Gandhi, they should approach the Supreme Court.”
Regarding the opposition to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s appointment to the Rajya Sabha, Yadav stated, “It is not in the interest of the people of Bihar for Nitish Kumar to take this position.”
