New Delhi, March 9: Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni congratulated Team India on their ICC T20 World Cup victory. He praised the team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, saying, “Coach Sahab, your smile looks great on you.” Additionally, Dhoni referred to Jasprit Bumrah as a “champion bowler.”
After a long hiatus, Dhoni took to social media to celebrate the team’s achievement, posting on Instagram, “History was made in Ahmedabad. Congratulations to the team, support staff, and all the fans of Indian cricket around the world. It was a joy to see you all play.”
He further complimented Gambhir, stating, “Coach Sahab, your smile suits you very well. The combination of enthusiasm and a smile is fantastic.”
Following Bumrah’s outstanding performance in the final, Dhoni remarked, “It’s better if I don’t write anything about Bumrah, champion bowler.”
The Indian cricket team set multiple records by winning the T20 World Cup final held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. They defeated New Zealand by 96 runs, securing their third T20 World Cup title at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
India became the first team in T20 World Cup history to win the trophy three times. Furthermore, they made history as the first host nation to win the T20 World Cup. By clinching the title for the second consecutive time, Team India also set a new record for the highest total in a T20 World Cup final, scoring 255 runs.
In the final match, batting first, the Indian team scored a total of 255 runs and restricted New Zealand to 159 runs, winning the match by 96 runs.
