Lucknow, March 13: Samajwadi Party chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the central government regarding the ongoing LPG crisis, stating that gas has seemingly vanished. He remarked that if anyone is spreading rumors, it is the government itself. Yadav suggested that if the government acknowledges the gas shortage, the public would cooperate, but the government insists that there is no shortage and that gas is available in sufficient quantities.
During a media interaction in Lucknow, Yadav emphasized that the reality is that gas has become almost non-existent. Long queues for cylinders are forming in every city, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. It’s rare to find a district where people are not standing in long lines. He questioned who is responsible for this situation, alleging that the government has spread the rumor that bookings can only be made after a certain period. He also pointed out difficulties in online booking for gas.
Yadav highlighted that this is the age of social media, and the crisis cannot be hidden. Due to the gas shortage, restaurants are closing, and people’s weddings are being postponed. He raised concerns about how people will cook if the situation worsens and how street vendors will manage, stating that even chaat vendors are unable to prepare their dishes.
Regarding the notice for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Yadav expressed support from his party, stating that the Election Commission has not been listening to their concerns. He mentioned that their cameras in Uttar Pradesh recorded everything that transpired, alleging that the by-elections were rigged and questioning the Election Commission’s actions during that time. He assured that they would raise this issue in the Lok Sabha.
On the attack against former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, Yadav stated that Abdullah is a senior leader and reiterated the need for the government to ensure his adequate security. He stressed that Abdullah is an important leader who can contribute significantly to society and guide the nation in the right direction, emphasizing that there should be no compromise on his safety.
