
New Delhi, March 17: On the death anniversary of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and freedom fighter Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, leaders across the country paid heartfelt tributes. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, among others, remembered his contributions. Many leaders also offered floral tributes at his statue.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage by laying flowers at Bahuguna’s statue. He wrote on the social media platform X, “Today, on the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter, popular politician, and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, I paid my respects at his statue in Lucknow.”
He further stated that Bahuguna made remarkable contributions to advancing social awareness and national consciousness alongside the country’s independence. “I pay my humble tribute to his sacred memories,” he added.
Adityanath emphasized that Bahuguna’s death anniversary is a moment to remember a great freedom fighter and former Chief Minister who worked for every section of society, from the state to the center.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also paid tribute by offering flowers at Bahuguna’s portrait at the Chief Minister’s residence. He recalled Bahuguna’s personality and achievements, describing him as a visionary leader and skilled administrator who always prioritized public welfare and worked tirelessly for the upliftment of weaker sections of society.
Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, born on April 25, 1919, was not only a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh but also a prominent freedom fighter and politician. He played a significant role in the freedom struggle and later in Uttar Pradesh politics, serving as Chief Minister from 1973 to 1975. He is remembered for his simplicity, dedication to public service, and strong resolve.
