New Delhi, March 18: Following the murder incident in Uttam Nagar, Congress MP Mohammad Javed from Kishanganj, Bihar, has raised serious allegations regarding open threats being issued to members of a particular community. He has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding immediate action and accountability for any lapses in maintaining law and order.
In his letter, Javed expressed deep concern and urgency regarding the troubling developments in Uttam Nagar, where members of the Muslim community are reportedly facing open threats and intimidation, creating an atmosphere of fear in their daily lives.
He stated, “What is unfolding is not merely an isolated law and order issue but a series of targeted hostilities that raises serious questions about the state’s ability and willingness to provide equal security to all citizens. The public threats, incendiary slogans, and spread of hate-filled material have created an environment where a section of Indian citizens feels unsafe even in the capital.”
Javed further emphasized that the Constitution of India does not accept ‘fear’ as a condition of citizenship. He referenced Articles 14, 19, and 23, which guarantee the rights to equality, freedom, and a dignified life, asserting that these rights appear to be under threat in Uttam Nagar.
In his appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress MP urged, “Take immediate cognizance of this situation and ensure accountability for any lapses in maintaining law and order. Additionally, direct the Delhi Police to act strictly and fairly against those spreading hate, issuing threats, or attempting to communalize the situation.”
Javed called for clear and effective security measures to be ensured for vulnerable and sensitive residents, aiming to restore their trust at the grassroots level. He also demanded an independent review of police actions to address concerns related to bias or inaction.
