The upcoming budget session of the Delhi Assembly is scheduled to take place from March 23 to 25. A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat decided on the agenda for this session.
According to the cabinet’s decision, the first day of the session on March 23 will see the presentation of the economic survey in the assembly. This report will provide detailed insights into the capital’s economic status, revenue collection, expenditures, developmental works across various sectors, and the progress of major schemes over the past year.
On March 24, the Delhi government will present its annual budget for the financial year 2026-27. Since Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also oversees the finance department, she will present the budget herself. This budget is expected to focus on programs related to infrastructure, education, health, transportation, sanitation, and urban amenities. Additionally, new announcements concerning social security and welfare are also anticipated.
On the third day, March 25, there will be a discussion on the budget, where legislators from both the ruling and opposition parties will express their views. Following the discussion, the government will respond, and the necessary procedures will be followed to pass the budget.
Political circles are also witnessing significant activity regarding the budget session. It is believed that through the upcoming budget, the Rekha Gupta government may announce several new schemes and initiatives aimed at strengthening the development of the capital and enhancing civic amenities.
