New Delhi, March 21: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has sharply criticized the United States, stating that there is a significant gap between American claims and the ground reality. He drew parallels with the Vietnam War, alleging that just as the truth was concealed during that time, a similar strategy is being employed today. Araghchi warned that if there is any attack on Iran’s infrastructure, Tehran will respond decisively without restraint.
He emphasized that the Americans should not forget how, during the Vietnam War, while hundreds of American soldiers were being killed and the outcome of the war was already clear, General William Westmoreland was flown back home to assure everyone that the war was going well and that America was “winning.”
Araghchi remarked that the script remains the same today, just the stage has changed; figures like Hegseth appear, yet their messages are still far from reality.
In a post on the social media platform X, he stated, “The American government says one thing, and the reality is something else.” He further added, “At the very moment when American officials claim that Iran’s air defenses have been neutralized, an F-35 aircraft is targeted. When they announce that Iran’s navy is completely finished, the USS Gerald Ford returns, and the USS Abraham Lincoln moves even further away.”
Araghchi sarcastically noted that while the decade may have changed, the slogan remains the same: “We are winning.” He reiterated on X, “We are principled men and women. The Iranian people do not strike at their enemies while negotiating. We only respond forcefully when we are attacked.”
He also mentioned that they have intelligence on Israel’s plans to attack their infrastructure. Araghchi concluded by stating once again: if there is an attack on our infrastructure, we will not exercise any restraint.
