Samsung Introduces Compatibility Support Between Quick Share and Apples AirDrop

Seoul, March 23: Samsung Electronics announced on Monday that it has launched compatibility support between its Android file-sharing platform, Quick Share, and Apple’s AirDrop. This update will enable Galaxy S26 smartphone users to exchange photos across various devices.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the South Korean tech giant stated that starting Monday, users of the Galaxy S26 series will be able to share files with iOS-operated iPhones.

Both Quick Share and AirDrop utilize Bluetooth technology to identify nearby devices for exchanging photos, videos, contact numbers, and files, although interoperability was not previously available.

In a release, the company mentioned, “The AirDrop feature will initially be available on the Galaxy S26 series, with plans to extend it to other devices later.” This service will be available from Wednesday in major markets, including the United States and Europe.

A company official remarked, “We have maximized user convenience by enabling Galaxy users to communicate seamlessly with users of devices running other operating systems.”

Additionally, Samsung has partnered with Hyundai Motor Group to introduce a new car-to-home service, allowing drivers to control home appliances through Samsung’s SmartThings platform directly from their vehicles.

Samsung Electronics stated in a release that this new service enables drivers to use the screen in their cars to operate home appliances like air conditioners, air purifiers, and robotic vacuum cleaners. For instance, users can activate “Home Mode” to turn on the air conditioner and lights as they approach their home.

When “Away Mode” is activated, the platform turns off unused home appliances while the robotic vacuum cleaner is in operation. This service is available in Hyundai and Kia vehicles manufactured after November 2022 that support connected car navigation cockpit infotainment platforms. Samsung and automotive manufacturers plan to extend this feature to other models through software updates.
