Mamata Banerjee Targets CAPF After Election Commission in West Bengal

Kolkata, March 25: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has turned her attention to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) after criticizing the Election Commission. She alleged that the central forces are acting as agents of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, similar to the commission.

During three rallies in North Bengal on Wednesday, CM Banerjee accused the CAPF companies already stationed in the state of bias. She stated that every vote against the BJP would serve as a retaliation against the Election Commission, which has caused difficulties for the public through Special Intense Review (SIR).

While expressing her respect for the CAPF, she noted that they appear to be working as agents for the BJP, even carrying BJP flags. The Chief Minister urged women in West Bengal to take special initiatives to ensure security at polling booths during the elections. She emphasized that if peace is desired in West Bengal for the next five years, citizens must secure the booths and prevent outsiders from causing electoral disturbances.

Banerjee also criticized the commission for transferring bureaucrats and police officials from West Bengal to other states without prior notice. She questioned who would handle essential administrative tasks in the state if her officials were transferred without her knowledge.

She expressed concern over the SIR, stating it is shameful that citizens of West Bengal are being forced to prove their citizenship after so many years. Banerjee highlighted that tribal and backward classes have received Logical Discrepancy Notices and asserted that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) would be the next agenda in West Bengal. However, she vowed that as long as she is alive, no one will be sent to detention camps.
