New Delhi, March 28: The Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice of the Government of India will launch the AI chatbot ‘Nyaya Setu’ during the ‘National Consultation 2026’ event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Sunday. This initiative aims to promote technology-enabled legal services and stakeholder participation as part of the ‘Innovative Solutions for Comprehensive Access to Justice’ scheme.
The event will be graced by the Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, as the chief guest, while Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, will attend as a special guest. The program will commence with the arrival of the chief guest, followed by formal ceremonies including the national anthem and lighting of the lamp. The celebration will also mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram,’ featuring performances by local artists.
A key highlight of the consultation will be the launch of the “Voice of Beneficiaries” booklet for 2025-26, showcasing inspiring stories of individuals who have benefited from digital access to justice through tele-law services. Additionally, there will be a detailed presentation on the progress of the scheme aimed at creating innovative solutions for comprehensive access to justice, including direct dialogues with panel lawyers, grassroots entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries. Discussions will also cover ‘pro bono’ legal assistance efforts conducted by law colleges in Delhi.
The unveiling of technological innovations will be a significant part of the consultation. The AI-powered chatbot ‘Nyaya Setu’ will be launched to guide citizens in accessing their legal rights and tele-law services. Furthermore, a series of comic books focused on legal awareness, developed in collaboration with the National Law University, Delhi, will also be released.
The program will include the release of a ‘White Paper’ compiling recommendations and best practices from experts, policymakers, and professionals. This document will provide strategic guidance to strengthen tele-law services and enhance the benefits of technology in the delivery of justice.
Approximately 1,200 participants are expected to attend the consultation, including officials from the Supreme Court’s e-committee and the National Legal Services Authority, bar members, government lawyers, tele-law panel lawyers, grassroots entrepreneurs, and faculty and students from Delhi University and prominent law institutions. Stakeholders from across the country will also connect virtually.
This national consultation reflects the Government of India’s commitment to ensuring digital and inclusive access to justice. The event will serve as a crucial platform for sharing best practices, reviewing progress, and strengthening access to justice at the grassroots level across the nation.
