Mumbai, March 29: Tensions between Cuba and the United States have escalated once again, with Cuba accusing the U.S. of lying about fuel supplies. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla took to social media platform ‘X’ to assert that U.S. claims do not align with its own policies and orders. He referred to an executive order issued on January 29 and subsequent actions, describing them as a brutal fuel blockade against Cuba.
According to Rodriguez, the U.S. is not only threatening countries and companies supplying oil to Cuba but is also targeting oil tankers. He stated that Washington’s policy aims to weaken Cuba’s economy, halt its development, eliminate sources of income, and restrict access to markets and technology.
Cuba has been facing U.S. sanctions for decades, leading to severe economic and energy crises in the country. The United Nations has also warned that the significant fuel shortage is pushing Cuba towards a humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump made a controversial statement regarding Cuba, saying, “Cuba is next, but I tell the media to ignore this.” This remark was made during the Future Investment Initiative conference held in Miami, Florida.
This comment comes at a time when the U.S. has already taken military action against Venezuela and Iran. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was detained on January 3, while attacks on Iran have been ongoing since February 28.
Previously, President Trump has stated that Cuba is on the verge of collapse, although his current focus seems to be on Iran.
