Chennai, April 2: The weather in Tamil Nadu is showing signs of change. Light to moderate rain is expected in the southern parts of the state over the next few days, while temperatures are predicted to gradually rise across the state.
According to the regional meteorological department, a low-pressure trough has formed at an elevation of approximately 900 meters, stretching from the interior regions of Tamil Nadu to the interior areas of northern Karnataka. This system is influencing the current weather conditions, leading to scattered rainfall, particularly in the coastal districts of southern Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats.
On Thursday, light rain may occur in one or two locations in these areas. Rainfall activities are expected to increase slightly on April 3 and 4, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder in some places.
However, the rest of Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, is likely to remain predominantly dry, with no significant rainfall forecasted for these regions.
The meteorological department has also warned that maximum temperatures may rise in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the coming days. The increase in heat and humidity during the day could cause discomfort, especially in the interior districts.
In the capital, Chennai, the sky will be partially cloudy over the next two days. Nevertheless, temperatures may soar above 35 degrees Celsius, leading to hot and humid weather conditions for residents.
Meteorologists have advised people to stay hydrated and avoid going out in direct sunlight during the afternoon.
