Patna, April 2: A sudden chaos erupted in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Wednesday evening when a large crowd gathered for a livestock fair, leading to a stampede-like situation just before Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav’s performance. The crowd swelled to such an extent that the situation quickly spiraled out of control, creating a panic among the attendees.
The incident occurred in the Gadhha police station area of the Aurai block, where former minister Ram Surat Rai had organized the livestock fair. Thousands of people were already present at the event, and as the time for Yadav’s arrival approached, the crowd continued to grow, overwhelming the arrangements in place.
Witnesses reported that as news spread about Khesari Lal Yadav’s impending arrival, thousands rushed towards the stage, eager to catch a glimpse of the singer. This rush led to a chaotic scene, prompting the police to resort to lathi charge to restore order.
During the commotion, several individuals fell and sustained minor injuries; however, there has been no official confirmation of any serious injuries. Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere as terrifying for a brief period during the chaos.
The incident also impacted the event itself, as the stage area was cleared before Khesari Lal Yadav’s performance could begin. Many attendees left in fear, while some chose to stay and wait for the situation to normalize.
Local residents criticized the lack of adequate security and crowd management measures, asserting that the organizers failed to anticipate the size of the crowd, which contributed to the unfortunate situation.
