New Delhi, April 3: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed appreciation for the support and sympathy shown by the government and people of Azerbaijan during a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Pezeshkian stated, “In my conversation with my brother, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, I appreciated the sympathy and support of the Azerbaijani government and its people. Friend and brotherly nations stand by each other in difficult times, and the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the stronger the bond becomes.”
Pezeshkian also referenced a previous conversation with Azerbaijan’s former President Heydar Aliyev in another post. He expressed gratitude for the sympathy and support from the government and people of Azerbaijan, emphasizing that “friend and brotherly nations recognize each other again in times of difficulty and crisis; and the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the more solid the bond becomes.”
In a statement made a day earlier, Pezeshkian remarked that the Iranian people harbor no animosity towards the American people. He accused the U.S. administration of acting as a “proxy” for Israel against Iran.
He stated, “The Iranian people do not harbor animosity towards any nation, including those from America, Europe, or neighboring countries.” He added, “Despite facing foreign interventions and pressures throughout our glorious history, Iranians have always made a clear distinction between governments and their peoples.”
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran has “never chosen the path of aggression, expansionism, colonialism, or dominance in its modern history,” despite facing occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers.
