Mumbai, April 5: Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde strongly defended the Maharashtra government‘s flagship welfare scheme, ‘Ladki Behna Yojana‘, on Saturday, dismissing the opposition’s allegations as completely baseless.
In a conversation, Hegde stated, “The Ladki Behna Yojana is a key program of our government. The deadline for KYC registration has been set for April 30. There is no substance to the opposition’s claims. The government has allocated approximately ₹26,000 crores for this scheme, which has been running since August 2024, providing ₹1,500 per month to each beneficiary woman.”
Hegde also supported the government regarding fuel supply amid rising tensions in the Middle East. He mentioned, “A Japanese ship carrying fuel is en route to India. Additionally, an Indian vessel is coming from the Hormuz Strait. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with the President of Iran, which facilitated the passage of two ships through Hormuz earlier. There will be no shortage of fuel and gas in India, and this credit goes entirely to Prime Minister Modi and his government.”
Responding to recent comments by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Shiv Sena launched a sharp attack. Hegde remarked, “Chowdhury’s statement regarding TMC’s strategy to gather Muslim votes is very wrong. He said that where there is a chance of winning, Muslims will vote for TMC, and where Congress has a chance, they will vote for Congress. This statement is divisive. The public votes based on work, not religion.”
Hegde also reacted to suggestions from young Samajwadi Party MP Ikra Chowdhury, stating that while dedicating a day in the Lok Sabha to child development is a good idea, the proceedings are managed according to the agenda and timing set by the secretariat. He added that Ikra Chowdhury’s father was also a former MP, so she should be aware of parliamentary procedures.
