
Hyderabad, April 27: A tragic incident occurred in the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday evening when a massive crane collapsed at a cement brick company due to strong winds, resulting in the deaths of five workers and injuries to twelve others.
The accident took place in Mahalingpuram, located in the Shankarpally mandal of Ranga Reddy district. Upon receiving news of the incident, police promptly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. The injured were admitted to a hospital in Shankarpally, with two of them reported to be in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Ali Hussain (35), Nagendra (30), Sajid (32), Mithun, and Sonu. The bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Chevella for post-mortem examinations.
According to officials, there were 17 workers on site at the time of the incident. The crane, which was being used to lift cement bricks, lost its balance and fell due to the stormy weather and strong winds in the area.
Senior police officials visited the site, and a police officer confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, a severe fire broke out at an automobile service center in Amberpet, Hyderabad. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. The fire occurred at the Mahindra Service Center, and firefighters arrived quickly to begin extinguishing the flames.
Despite several hours of continuous efforts by police and firefighters, they struggled to control the fire, which filled the area with thick smoke, causing panic among residents nearby.
In another incident in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad, a JCB operator lost his life in an accident while working on demolishing a building. Debris from the structure fell on the operator, causing severe injuries. He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Zakir, and the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
