Excitement in Sikkim as PM Modi Begins Visit

Gangtok, April 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Sikkim for a two-day visit. On Sunday, he held a grand mega roadshow in Gangtok, transforming the entire city into a vibrant festival atmosphere.

In an interview, Bimal Kumar Rai, president of the Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh, expressed enthusiasm for the Prime Minister’s visit, stating, “We are very excited and hope he blesses us again tomorrow. It brings us great joy to welcome the Prime Minister of India. We are demanding a tribal system in the Indian state, which we have already presented to the Sikkim government. We hope the Sikkim government will raise this demand before the Prime Minister, and I am confident that he will give us the right to speak here.”

Bimal Kumar highlighted the impressive progress Sikkim has made over the past 50 years in economic, social, and educational development. “We have gained many intellectual resources. Everything has changed, from the people living in the state to their behavior. Our city has received the status of an independent state. There has been a significant transformation in the standard of living in this state over these 50 years,” he added.

K.G. Namgyal, president of the Lal Bazaar Youth Development Committee, thanked the local leaders for the opportunity to meet and work with the Prime Minister. “We are very happy that our Prime Minister is coming to Sikkim, and we hope he will pay attention to our people and our region, resolving many of our issues as soon as possible. We face challenges with roads, infrastructure, electricity, and water supply. There is also an LPG crisis. Therefore, we hope these issues will be addressed soon,” he said.

Namgyal emphasized the high expectations they have from the Prime Minister, saying, “As the Prime Minister of India, we have great expectations from him. We hope he will do good work for Sikkim. We are looking forward to it. Sikkim is celebrating 50 years this year.”
