Noida, April 28: A significant step has been taken to control rising pollution levels and promote electric vehicles (EVs) in the city. Under the directives of Krishna Karunesh, Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, a crucial agreement has been signed between the Noida Authority and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). This agreement will see the establishment of 13 EV battery swapping stations across Noida.
The primary objective of this project is to reduce pollution in the city and facilitate the use of electric vehicles. The introduction of battery swapping stations will provide significant relief to two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric vehicle drivers. Instead of charging their vehicles for extended periods, they will now be able to swap out discharged batteries for fully charged ones in just a few minutes. This will save time and accelerate the adoption of EVs.
Notably, there will be no financial burden on the Noida Authority for this project. All 13 battery swapping stations will be set up at their own expense. In return, the authority will earn revenue through a revenue-sharing model, receiving ₹1 per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed.
This initiative will also play a vital role in developing Noida as a smart and sustainable city. The increasing use of electric vehicles is expected to not only reduce air pollution but also enhance the city’s overall environment.
The locations for the 13 battery swapping stations include in front of the Noida Authority office in Sector 6, Ganga Shopping Complex in Sector 29, near Spice Mall in Sector 25A, in front of ESIC Hospital in Sector 24, near Electronic City Metro Station in Sector 63, Haldiram Market (H-Block), Sector 58, near Shopprix Mall in Sector 61, Sector 16A, Sector 16, Sector 18 Metro Station, Sector 15 Metro Station, and around Amity University.
Officials from the authority believe that this initiative will prove to be a milestone in making Noida an EV-friendly city and could serve as a model for other cities as well.
