Tragic Deaths of Priest and Son in Telangana Temple Pond

Hyderabad, May 22: In a tragic incident in Telangana’s Jangaon district, a father and son reportedly committed suicide on Friday. The incident took place in Bandalagudem village of Lingala Ghanpur mandal.

Lakshminarasimha Charyulu and his son Pawan Kumar Charyulu, who served as priests at the Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple, were found dead in a pond by local residents, who immediately alerted the police. The bodies were retrieved and sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. Initial investigations by the police suggest that the priests took this drastic step due to financial and family issues.

Lakshminarasimha Charyulu’s wife, Shridevi, had passed away a month ago due to health complications. The police have registered a case and initiated further investigations.

In a separate incident in Khammam district, a woman was found dead in her home, with relatives alleging that her husband murdered her for insurance money. R. Meenakshi, 28, was discovered hanging in her house located in the outskirts of Khammam city on Friday morning.

Police have detained her husband, R. Shivaji, after an old video surfaced showing him brutally assaulting Meenakshi. Relatives claim that Shivaji killed her and attempted to stage it as a suicide, motivated by a life insurance policy worth 8 million rupees taken out in Meenakshi’s name.

Hours after Meenakshi’s body was found, a video emerged showing Shivaji beating her with a belt while she was bound, with the sound of their child crying in the background. According to police, the video was recorded by a relative but was hidden due to family intervention and mutual understanding.

The police have filed a case and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine whether it was a suicide or a murder. They are currently interrogating Shivaji as part of the investigation.
