
Bengaluru, May 23: In their final league match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a convincing 55-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite the win, SRH remains in third place on the points table.
Chasing a target of 256 runs set by SRH, RCB managed to score 200 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings for RCB, scoring 44 runs off 19 balls, including 4 sixes and 4 fours. Captain Rajat Patidar contributed with 56 runs off 39 balls, while Krunal Pandya and Tim David scored 41 and 15 runs respectively. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal were dismissed for 15 and 21 runs.
For SRH, Ishan Malinga was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Sakib Hussain and Travis Head each claimed 1 wicket.
Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, SRH posted a formidable total of 255 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Ishan Kishan was the star performer, scoring 79 runs off 46 balls, with 3 sixes and 8 fours. Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen also made significant contributions, scoring 56 and 51 runs respectively. Nitish Reddy added a quick 29 runs off just 12 balls.
For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar took 2 wickets for 52 runs in 4 overs, while SuYash Sharma and Krunal Pandya each took 1 wicket.
Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match for the second consecutive game. This match marked the end of the league stage for both teams, who have already secured their spots in the playoffs. RCB, with 18 points from 14 matches, tops the table based on a better net run rate, followed by Gujarat Titans in second place and SRH in third.
