Infiltrator Arrested in Uri Sector of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, May 31: In a significant operation, vigilant Chinar Warriors apprehended an infiltrator from Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir (PAJK) while he was crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The soldiers exercised restraint while challenging the infiltrator and successfully arrested him. The individual has been handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir police for further legal action. The infiltrator has been identified as Zeeshan Mir, son of Lal Mir, a resident of Pakistan.

Earlier, three individuals were caught in the Uri sector on Sunday while attempting to cross the LoC into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). Officials reported that the army apprehended the trio as they tried to breach the LoC into Kashmir.

The three individuals are residents of the Sopore area in Baramulla district. According to officials, they were attempting to enter POK from the Hathlanga-Nambla area during the night between Saturday and Sunday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Adil Hussain Dar, Ishfaq Ahmed, and Zafar Ahmed, all hailing from Sopore. Officials noted that Dar is a suspended personnel of the Territorial Army (TA)-161.

Sources indicated that the three were in contact with certain handlers present in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. They are currently in custody, and security agencies are interrogating them while awaiting further information.

In another incident, an army unit captured a youth from POK who had crossed the LoC into Kashmir in the Silikot area of the Uri sector. The apprehended individual, Zeeshan Mir from Muzaffarabad, claimed that he crossed the LoC to meet his girlfriend residing in Tilai in the Uri sector.

Officials stated that security forces are interrogating Mir and the girl, and further information is awaited.

Jammu and Kashmir has a 740 km long LoC that runs through the valley’s Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts, as well as parts of the Jammu division, including Poonch, Rajouri, and Jammu districts.
