Ahmedabad, June 1: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has clinched the IPL 2026 title, defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the final match held on Sunday. This marks RCB’s second consecutive title win under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, who appeared quite emotional after the victory.
During the post-match presentation, Patidar expressed, “It feels amazing. Coming here, many memories from last year came rushing back. I don’t have words to express my emotions, but I feel really good. Our plan was very clear. Winning the toss made chasing the target easier for us. The way Bhuvi, Hazlewood, Rasik, Krunal, SuYash, and Shepherd bowled throughout the tournament was truly commendable. I never even dreamed that I would become the captain of RCB and win the trophy. I think it was written in my destiny. I am very grateful for this.”
He added, “This time, our confidence was a bit higher than last year. Wherever we played, the presence of our fans made us feel at home. My preparation before the tournament was very good. I tried to analyze which shots would be most effective for me. I received many valuable suggestions from Dinesh Karthik, which proved to be very helpful. He is always there for the team at every moment.”
Patidar dedicated the victory to RCB fans, saying, “This one is again for you, RCB fans. The cup is ours this year.”
In the final match, after losing the toss, GT batted first and scored 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. RCB chased down the target, scoring 161 runs for 5 wickets in 18 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 75-run innings from Virat Kohli, securing the IPL 2026 trophy.
