Noida, June 6: Panic erupted in the Bahalolpur area of Noida’s Sector 63 on Saturday when a fire broke out due to a sudden short circuit in the electrical wires. The fire caused sparks to fly from the wires, accompanied by loud noises resembling firecrackers, leading to chaos among the local residents who rushed out of their homes and shops.
According to eyewitnesses, a bright flash was seen in the electrical wires during the afternoon, followed by sparks and explosions similar to Diwali firecrackers. The continuous loud noises and flashes created a fearful atmosphere among those nearby, with concerns that the fire could spread to adjacent buildings or shops.
The incident was promptly reported to the electricity and fire departments. Teams from the respective departments arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Officials immediately cut off the power supply to the affected line as a precautionary measure. This action helped control the fire-like situation in the wires, averting a potential disaster. Local residents expressed that if the power supply had not been cut off in time, the fire could have spread further.
Meanwhile, electricity department officials indicated that the preliminary investigation pointed to a short circuit as the likely cause of the incident. A detailed investigation is underway to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or casualties from this incident. Local residents have called for regular inspections and necessary repairs of the old and dilapidated wires to prevent a recurrence of such events.
