Delhi Police Solve Three Theft Cases, Arrest Two Skilled Thieves

New Delhi Police from the Kishangarh police station in the South-West district have arrested two skilled thieves involved in multiple vehicle thefts. Using CCTV footage analysis and technical surveillance, the police tightened the net around the accused. Recovered from the suspects were three stolen alloy wheel tyres, tools used to remove alloy wheels, and a Hyundai Aura car used during the crimes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ankit (37) and Ketan Tokas, both residents of New Delhi. According to police reports, the duo were addicted to drugs and committed thefts to support their habit.

The case originated on January 29, when an online First Information Report (FIR no. 80008769/26) was registered at Kishangarh police station under sections 303(2)/317(2)/3(5) BNS. The complainant, V Kumar, reported that unknown thieves had stolen alloy wheels and tyres from his Hyundai Aura car while it was parked. Taking the matter seriously, police immediately began an investigation.

CCTV cameras in and around the crime scene were closely examined, revealing two to three suspicious youths near the vehicle around 5:30 pm on January 28. The footage also identified a Hyundai car as a suspicious vehicle connected to the incident.

Further investigation showed that the suspect vehicle was registered in Ankit’s name. Police traced the suspects’ movements through mobile location data and technical surveillance across Lajpat Nagar, Mahipalpur, and Kishangarh areas. Acting on this information, a police team set a trap and arrested Ankit along with the vehicle.

During interrogation, Ankit confessed his involvement in the thefts and led the police to recover three stolen alloy wheel tyres. Subsequent questioning led to the arrest of his accomplice, Ketan Tokas, from whom tools used to loosen alloy wheels and nuts were seized.

A special police team comprising SI Dharmendra, Head Constables Yogesh and Ashok, and Constables Sanjeev and Dharmendra executed this operation under the supervision of Inspector Ajay Kumar Yadav, SHO Kishangarh, and guidance from Melvin Varghese, IPS, ACP Safdarjung Enclave.

Police revealed that Ankit had previously worked as a driver and later operated a Hyundai Aura on the Rapido platform. Both accused were drug addicts and used money obtained from thefts to purchase narcotics.
