
New Delhi: A tragic fire broke out late Monday night at the DMRC staff quarters located in Adarsh Nagar, Delhi, resulting in the death of three members of the same family. The victims include a Metro assistant engineer, his wife, and their 10-year-old daughter. At the time of the incident, the family was asleep inside their second-floor apartment.
The fire control room received the first information about the blaze around 2:39 AM. Fire trucks from a nearby station were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the fire brigade team found the fire had spread significantly. After successfully extinguishing the fire, they conducted a search operation inside the flat and recovered the bodies of the three family members.
One firefighter also sustained injuries during the operation and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
A Delhi Fire Service official stated, “We received the fire alert at 2:39 AM. When the team reached the location, the fire was already widespread. After controlling the fire, the three fatalities were confirmed inside the apartment.”
The police were informed of the incident around 3 AM. Along with the forensic team, they arrived at the site and initiated an investigation. Initial findings indicate that smoke first filled the flat, followed by a loud blast that intensified the fire. However, the exact cause of the blast remains unclear.
Police officials have said that the cause of the fire is under thorough investigation, considering all possible angles, including short circuit, gas leakage, or other technical faults. A conclusive cause will be determined only after the forensic reports are received.
The investigation continues as authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
