
New Delhi, May 17: In a significant operation against illegal drug trafficking, the Special Staff team of the Outer District Police in Delhi has arrested a drug supplier. Over 8 kilograms of cannabis were seized from the accused. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and initiated further investigations.
According to a press release from the Delhi Police, on May 14, Sub-Inspector Vipin Kumar of the Special Staff received a tip-off about an individual delivering cannabis in various areas of Delhi, specifically in the Baprola area during the evening. Based on this information, a special team was formed under Inspector Rohit, which included ASI Murari Lal, Head Constable Rohit, Constables Harkesh, Vijay Laura, and Anuj. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Operations Virender Dalal.
The police team set up a trap in the Baprola area with the help of an informant. Shortly after, a young man carrying a blue bag arrived, who was identified by the informant. The police swiftly apprehended him. During interrogation, he was identified as Altaf Alam, a 20-year-old resident of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Police officials reported that during the search of the bag, four packets of cannabis were discovered hidden inside. The seized contraband was weighed on-site, totaling 8.120 kilograms. Following legal procedures, the items were confiscated.
The police have filed a case and stated that investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the narcotics and identify other individuals involved in the network.
