Mobile Theft Gang Busted, 67 Stolen Devices Recovered

Noida, June 5: The police at the Face-1 police station in Noida have successfully dismantled an interstate gang involved in mobile theft and snatching, arresting two accused while detaining a minor.

Authorities recovered 67 stolen mobile phones, six mobile phone folders, an HP laptop, mobile unlocking tools, and two illegal knives from the suspects. The estimated value of the seized items is around ₹15 lakh. According to police, the team apprehended the two accused, identified as Pawan and Golu, on Friday near a filthy drain in Sector 14. Both are residents of New Bans Village in the Face-1 area.

ADCP Manisha Singh stated that during interrogation, the suspects made several shocking revelations. This gang was active in crowded areas of Delhi, Noida, NCR, and nearby regions. To execute their crimes, the minor would suddenly pretend to be injured in front of moving vehicles, causing the drivers to stop and check. Meanwhile, the second accused would steal mobile phones from the other side of the vehicle and flee.

The police investigation also revealed that the accused were involved in snatching mobile phones from pedestrians, pickpocketing, and burglaries in PG accommodations and vacant houses. The stolen mobile phones were sold at low prices to passersby, while those that could not be sold were unlocked by Pawan using laptops and special tools, and their parts were sold separately.

Among the recovered mobile phones, there were 11 Samsung, 10 Redmi, 10 Vivo, and 9 iPhones, totaling 67 devices from various brands. Additionally, tools used for mobile repair, wire cutters, screwdrivers, mini grinders, pliers, and other equipment were also seized.

The police have filed cases against the accused under relevant sections of the law. Investigations into their criminal history are ongoing, and efforts are being made to locate other members of the gang, with further revelations expected soon.
