Mumbai, March 26: Director Mohit Suri’s films are known for featuring strong, sensitive female characters who often play the role of ‘healers’ or ‘saviors’ in the storyline. Despite their flaws, these women complete the male characters and guide them on the right path. Mohit shared that these powerful women in his films are inspired by real-life women.
Recently, Mohit appeared on a podcast hosted by Pooja Bhatt, where he named his wife, Udita Goswami, as his biggest inspiration for managing the family from a young age.
During the podcast, Pooja asked Mohit, “Your heroes are often troubled and emotional, but why do the women in your films resemble superheroes? Where does this inspiration come from?”
In response, Mohit said, “Pooja, look at the women in my life. Perhaps due to the absence of my mother, I see women from a different perspective. I have always witnessed strong women, whether it’s you, our grandmothers, or Aunt Mrs. Saigal. They have all been incredibly powerful.”
He added, “My wife Udita started working at the age of 14 and has been the backbone of our family. She is also very strong. I believe the women in my films are special because I perceive them as strong. Often, it is the woman who holds the man’s hand and saves him. The man is fighting against the world, trapped in difficulties, and only the woman can help him.”
Mohit humorously remarked, “In fact, this is the essence of all my films. My life experiences make the women on my screen special.”
Mohit Suri is renowned for his musical love stories and thrillers, having directed films like ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Ek Villain’, and ‘Murder 2’.
