Six-Year-Old Girl Murdered Over Neighbourly Dispute in Karnataka

Bengaluru: A tragic incident has come to light near Nellarahalli in Whitefield, Karnataka, where a six-year-old girl was murdered. The crime is believed to have been motivated by a personal enmity.

The deceased has been identified as Shahjan Khatun, aged six.

According to the police, Shahjan’s mother had recently been involved in a dispute with neighbours. It is alleged that the accused strangled the child with a rope and disposed of her body in a drain.

The girl’s father, Injamul Sheikh, had filed a missing person report after Shahjan went missing from their home.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), Saidulu Adawat, stated that the girl was reported missing from her residence. Upon reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence, the police found that Shahjan had gone with a known person, later confirmed to be a neighbour.

Police teams conducted extensive searches in the area and recovered the girl’s body from a sack around midnight. The body was sent to Vaidehi Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Deputy Commissioner Saidulu Adawat confirmed that suspects have been identified and investigations are ongoing. Special teams have been formed and deployed in different directions to track down the accused.

Preliminary investigations revealed no external injury marks on the body. Initial findings suggest that the child was strangled with a plastic wire. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.

During questioning, local residents informed the police that Shahjan’s mother had a dispute with some neighbours two days before the incident, indicating a motive linked to this enmity.

In a separate case from Singanhalli village in Tumakuru district, police found the bodies of a mother and her two children in a water tank. The deceased have been identified as Vijayalakshmi and her children, Chetan and Chaitanya.

Initial investigations suggest that the mother, under mental stress, may have committed suicide along with her children.

According to the police, Vijayalakshmi’s husband Sampath works in a private factory. He returned home on Tuesday night to find his wife and children missing and subsequently began searching for them.
