
Guwahati, March 22: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced its second list of candidates for the Assam Assembly elections. This announcement was made under the guidance of party president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The list includes seven candidates for various constituencies in Assam. According to the released list, Sherman Ali Ahmed will contest from Mandia (Barpeta), Roji Ahmed (Punu Das) from Hajo-Sualkuchi (SC), Abhijit Majumdar from Guwahati Central, Inus Kumar Kandapan from Chabua-Lahowal (Dibrugarh), Paresh Bora from Mariani (Jorhat), Parimal Ranjan Roy from Karimganj North, and Aziz Ahmed Khan (Ranu Khan) from Karimganj South.
Additionally, the party has made a significant change to its first list, withdrawing the candidacy of the candidate announced for the Chamaria Assembly seat (AC No. 27) under serial number 6.
TMC extended its best wishes to all candidates, urging them to serve the public and earn the trust of the people. Previously, on Saturday, TMC had released its first list, which included 17 candidates for the elections.
The Assam Assembly comprises a total of 126 seats, and it is a unicameral legislature. According to the Election Commission’s proposal, nine seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 19 seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Moreover, Assam’s representation in Parliament is significant, with 14 Lok Sabha seats and 7 Rajya Sabha seats. Voting for all 126 assembly seats will take place in a single phase on April 9, and the counting of votes will occur on May 4.
