
Ferozepur, January 10. The Punjab Police achieved a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the Ferozepur district. The Criminal Investigation (CI) staff team recovered a large quantity of heroin being smuggled via drone. During the operation, the police seized a total of 10 packets of heroin, weighing 5 kilograms and 562 grams.
According to reports, CI staff in-charge Mohit Dhawan was conducting a search operation in the Pallam Kila area when the team heard the sound of a drone overhead. Prompted by the noise, the police team, under Dhawan’s leadership, tracked the drone, leading them to fields near the village of Bamba Wala, where two suspicious individuals were signaling to the drone. Upon noticing the police, they fled the scene.
Following this, a joint team of the CI staff and the Border Security Force (BSF) launched an intensive search in the fields. During the search, a large yellow packet was discovered. Upon inspection, the packet contained 10 smaller packets of heroin, confirming the total weight of 5 kilograms and 562 grams.
The Punjab government is vigorously pursuing its anti-drug campaign, focusing on strict actions against drug traffickers. Thousands of drug traffickers have been apprehended across the state as part of this initiative. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, this campaign aims not only to combat drug trafficking but also to rescue the youth from the clutches of addiction.
The government views drug abuse as a significant threat to Punjab’s future, emphasizing that if not curtailed promptly, future generations will face dire consequences. This operation is regarded as one of the largest and most organized actions against drug trafficking in the state.
