Patna, January 17: A newlywed woman’s mysterious death in Vaishali district, Bihar, has raised serious allegations against her in-laws. The shocking incident came to light when the woman’s body was reportedly abandoned outside her parental home in the Pedia Bazar area, under the jurisdiction of the Harihar Nath Police Station in the neighboring Saran district.
According to family members, the accused arrived late at night on January 16, around 12:30 AM, in a black Scorpio vehicle and fled after leaving the body at the parents’ doorstep. The family was thrown into chaos upon discovering the body in the morning. CCTV footage from outside the house captured the incident, showing individuals arriving in the Scorpio, leaving the body, and quickly departing.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Harihar Nath Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that the vehicle used in the crime has been seized and an investigation is underway. The case took a sensational turn when it was revealed that the Scorpio is allegedly registered in the name of Santosh Rajak, a police sub-inspector stationed in Muzaffarpur district.

The involvement of a serving police officer’s vehicle has raised concerns within the police department. Investigators are now examining whether the sub-inspector had any direct involvement or if his vehicle was misused without his knowledge.
The deceased woman’s father, Jayprakash Mahto, stated that his daughter, Sarita, was married about nine months ago to Satyendra Kumar, a resident of Kartahan Burj village in Vaishali district. He alleged that despite fulfilling the dowry demands as per their financial capacity, the in-laws continued to ask for more money.

Mahto claimed that there were visible signs of strangulation on his daughter’s neck. The grieving family is demanding strict punishment for the husband and his family, calling the incident a crime and a blot on society.
Based on the father’s statement, the Harihar Nath Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against five accused, including the husband. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
