
New Delhi, January 20. The Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Dwarka District Police achieved a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb crime by arresting a notorious criminal. The accused was found in possession of a country-made pistol and a live cartridge.
The arrested individual, identified as Mohit, has a history of involvement in multiple criminal cases, including attempted murder, violations of the Arms Act, and the Excise Act.

According to police sources, the AATS team conducted this operation based on regular patrolling and confidential information. Under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Dwarka, teams have been placed on high alert for crime prevention and apprehension of criminals. A special team was formed to carry out the operation in a planned manner.

This team comprised Sub-Inspector Jitendra Singh, Head Constable Manish Kumar, Head Constable Sandeep, Head Constable Sonu, and Head Constable Manoj Kumar, operating under the supervision of Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, the in-charge of AATS Dwarka, and the overall oversight of the ACP/Operations.
The team successfully apprehended Mohit (34), whose full name is Mohit S/o Surendra, a resident of Dhansa village in the Jafarpur Kalan police jurisdiction. During the search, a country-made pistol and a live cartridge, which he was illegally possessing, were recovered.

Mohit’s criminal background includes involvement in over four cases related to attempted murder, the Arms Act, and the Excise Act. Police stated that his arrest has helped prevent a potential major incident in the area.
An FIR has been registered against the accused at Dwarka North Police Station under FIR number 17/26, dated January 11, 2026, under sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. Authorities are interrogating the accused to determine the source of the weapon and his intentions behind possessing it.
