HPV Vaccination Campaign for Girls in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, March 17: A campaign for HPV vaccination is underway in Madhya Pradesh to protect girls from cervical cancer. The state’s Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, Rajendra Shukla, announced that over one lakh adolescent girls have been vaccinated so far.

Shukla congratulated the health department team, district administration, and partner organizations for successfully vaccinating more than one lakh girls aged 14 years in the state, calling it a significant step towards safeguarding the daughters of Madhya Pradesh from cervical cancer.

He further mentioned that Prime Minister Modi launched this special HPV vaccination campaign nationally from Ajmer, Rajasthan, on February 28. Madhya Pradesh has now become the state with the highest number of HPV vaccinations in the country, having vaccinated over one lakh girls under this initiative.

Shukla highlighted the special contributions of the districts of Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Rajgarh, and Khargone in achieving this milestone. To ensure the successful implementation of the campaign, coordination has been established at the district level under the leadership of collectors, with significant support from various departments including school education, women and child development, and voluntary organizations.

He urged parents to ensure that their 14-year-old daughters receive the HPV vaccination to protect them from serious illnesses like cervical cancer. Shukla expressed confidence that the health department is fully committed to ensuring a safe and healthy future for daughters and will complete the vaccination of all eligible girls soon.

Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla conducted an unannounced inspection at the Super Specialty Hospital in Rewa, where he interacted with patients to inquire about their well-being. During his visit, he gathered information about the health services, medical arrangements, and quality of treatment available at the hospital, directing officials to provide better and timely care to patients.
