Lucknow Super Giants Visit Ayodhya Before IPL 2026

Ayodhya, March 21: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team visited Ayodhya on Saturday to seek blessings from Lord Ram ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Team owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant were also present during this auspicious occasion.

The team received a grand welcome at the temple complex, where temple staff conducted rituals and guided the players and support staff around the newly constructed temple. Security arrangements were notably tight during the visit. Pictures of Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant at the temple were shared on LSG’s official social media accounts.

LSG joined the IPL in 2022 but has yet to reach the finals in the last four seasons. In IPL 2025, the team entered with new captain Rishabh Pant and a nearly revamped squad and coaching staff, but their performance did not improve. They failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing in seventh place, with captain Rishabh Pant struggling to make a significant impact as a batsman and leader. Mentor Zaheer Khan also could not influence the team’s performance.

For IPL 2026, LSG is once again entering the tournament with a new coaching team and several fresh players. Changes have also been made to the team’s jersey and branding. LSG aims to assert its dominance this season and secure its first title.

The team is expected to rely on key players such as captain Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Mohammed Shami, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Digvesh Rathi for match-winning performances this season.

Mohammed Shami will be playing for LSG for the first time this season after being released by SRH before the auction. His performance will be closely monitored as he continues to strive for a return to the national team.
