Washington, April 28: Shocking revelations have emerged regarding a planned attack during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in the U.S. capital. According to investigative agencies, the suspected attacker, Cole Thomas Allen, meticulously plotted the attack for several weeks.
Officials stated that Allen began preparations well in advance of the high-profile event scheduled for April 25. Shortly after President Donald Trump confirmed his attendance at the dinner, Allen booked a room at the same hotel, the Washington Hilton, reserving three nights from April 24 to 26.
As per the plan, Allen departed from his home near Los Angeles on April 21. He arrived in Chicago on April 23 and reached Washington, D.C. around 1 PM on April 24. That same afternoon, he checked into the hotel at approximately 3 PM, ensuring he would be present in the building during the event.
Investigations revealed that Allen was aware of the event’s timing and the presence of top leaders. The dinner commenced around 8 PM, featuring the President, Vice President, and several senior cabinet members.
Approximately 40 minutes later, at around 8:40 PM, Allen attempted to execute his plan. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch reported that he moved towards a security checkpoint located on the terrace level, one floor above the ballroom.
It was reported that Allen entered while carrying a long firearm and bypassed the metal detector. Moments later, gunfire erupted, causing chaos as security forces sprang into action.
During this incident, a Secret Service officer was shot in the chest but survived due to wearing a bulletproof vest. The officer responded, leading to Allen being subdued and arrested.
Authorities assert that this attack was not spontaneous but rather a well-planned operation. Todd Blanch stated, “This was not an accident but the result of long-term preparation.”
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro also noted that Allen’s activities and timeline clearly indicated his intent to reach the ballroom and carry out an attack, but security agencies intervened in time.
The investigation is ongoing, with agencies examining his hotel room, electronic devices, and travel records.
