Threatening Call to Mumbai Railway Police Demands ₹5 Crore

Mumbai, April 28: Security agencies in Maharashtra’s capital, Mumbai, are on high alert following a threatening call received by the railway police control room. The call has prompted heightened vigilance across the system as police investigate the matter seriously.

According to the railway police, the call was made to the Mumbai GRP control room by an individual who claimed to have targeted a railway station and an army office. Identifying himself as ‘Irfan’, the caller threatened that if the lives of ordinary people were to be saved, he demanded ₹5 crore.

Officials revealed that the call was made to the railway control’s WhatsApp number, and investigations indicated that the number used was registered in Pakistan. However, initial inquiries have not uncovered any suspicious objects or activities. Despite this, police are exploring every angle of the case and have tightened security measures.

Authorities stated that such threats cannot be taken lightly, and immediate action is being taken on every piece of information received.

Earlier, on April 8, a fake bomb threat call had caused panic in Mumbai for a brief period. At around 11:54 AM that day, a person called the beat marshal system claiming, “I am a terrorist, a bomb blast is going to happen in Mumbai.” This prompted an immediate alert from police and security agencies.

However, within hours, police identified the caller as 46-year-old Tufan Noor Lal Sheikh, a daily wage worker residing in the APMC market area of Sector 19. Senior police officer Ajay Shinde reported that the suspect was arrested promptly and confessed during interrogation that he made the call while under the influence of alcohol.
