The event was co-chaired by District Magistrate (South-East) Shrawan Bagdia, along with senior district administration officials, senior police officers, and all SHOs from the South-East district.
The program aimed to raise awareness about the self-enumeration facility initiated by the Government of India for Census 2027 and to strengthen coordination between police and administrative officials for smooth census-related activities in the district.
During the session, officials from the Census Department delivered detailed presentations on the significance of census operations, explaining how census data serves as a foundation for effective governance, welfare schemes, urban planning, infrastructure development, and public administration across the country. Special emphasis was placed on the newly introduced self-enumeration process, which allows citizens to submit their household details through the official census web portal and a mobile application available in 16 languages. Attendees were briefed on the entire registration process, which includes OTP-based login, selecting residential details, filling in household and family information, and obtaining a specific self-enumeration ID to show when census personnel visit.
The program also highlighted the role of Delhi Police in ensuring a safe and supportive environment during census operations. Discussions included coordination between police and census officials, security arrangements for field staff, identification of sensitive areas, rapid response mechanisms, and providing assistance to census teams when needed. Special attention was given to the safety and support of female field staff during the enumeration tasks.
Addressing the gathering, DCP Dr. Hemant Tiwari emphasized the importance of active public participation in Census 2027 and urged all residents to responsibly and accurately complete the self-enumeration process. He stated that reliable census data is essential for effective policy-making, development planning, and the implementation of government welfare schemes. Speaking on the occasion, District Magistrate Shrawan Bagdia highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the district administration and police machinery for the successful implementation of the census process. He urged all stakeholders to fully cooperate in ensuring smooth and transparent census operations.
Citizens were advised to be cautious of cyber fraud and to avoid sharing OTPs or personal details with unknown individuals during the self-enumeration process. The program concluded with a collective commitment from the district administration and Delhi Police to ensure an effective awareness campaign, public cooperation, and smooth operations for India’s Census – 2027 in the South-East district.
