Kolkata Police Denies Fake Advisory on Section 144

Kolkata, May 7: Following post-election violence in West Bengal, tensions remain high in several areas. Amidst this, misleading information is being circulated on social media. Kolkata Police have stated that an advisory related to Section 144 being shared in various parts of the capital is fake and misleading.

The advisory claiming the enforcement of Section 144 in areas like Khidirpur and Topsia was purportedly issued by the Kolkata Police headquarters. However, the police have categorically dismissed this advisory as false.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Kolkata Police stated, “This advisory is fake and misleading. The law and order situation under the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police is completely normal and is being monitored vigilantly.”

The post further mentioned, “Strict legal action is being initiated against those spreading such false information in the name of the Kolkata Police Commissioner.” The police have urged citizens to rely only on verified information from official sources.

It is noteworthy that the recent assembly election results in West Bengal saw the BJP emerge victorious, while the TMC was ousted from power after 15 years. Following this electoral defeat, several violent incidents have occurred in different regions of the state. Notably, last night, Chandranath Rath, a personal assistant to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead in Barasat.

Reports indicate that Chandranath was shot in the Madhyamgram area. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby Diversity Nursing Home with the help of local residents, but succumbed to his injuries en route. TMC workers have been accused of the murder.
