Lucknow, May 15: In an exciting match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) triumphed over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets in IPL 2026. Mitchell Marsh played a crucial role in this victory, earning the Player of the Match award for his explosive innings.
After the match, Marsh expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It feels good to win. We haven’t had many victories this season, so this is gratifying.” He highlighted the strong partnership with Jos Inglis, which saw them score 135 runs off 70 balls for the first wicket, saying, “It was a good partnership. He takes the pressure off me.”
Despite LSG being out of the playoff race, Marsh emphasized the importance of the win for team morale. He praised his teammates, noting, “We have some really good young players in this group, and I’m enjoying playing with these guys.”
Chasing a target of 188 runs, Marsh’s explosive innings made the task seem easier. The right-handed batsman scored 90 runs off just 38 balls, hitting seven sixes and nine fours. His partner, Josh Inglis, contributed 36 runs off 32 balls, while Nicholas Pooran and Mukul Chaudhary added 32 and 13 runs, respectively.
Earlier, CSK batted first after losing the toss, scoring 187 runs for the loss of five wickets. Karthik Sharma was the standout performer for CSK, scoring 71 runs off 42 balls, while Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis chipped in with 32 and 25 runs, respectively.
For LSG, Aakash Maharaj Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.
Following this match, CSK has slipped to sixth place in the points table with six wins and six losses, totaling 12 points. LSG, now out of the playoff race, sits at the bottom in tenth place, marking their fourth win in the season’s 12 matches.
