Indore, May 15: Congress leader Digvijay Singh has responded to the recent High Court ruling regarding the Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. He stated that the matter will be studied further, noting that several similar cases are already pending in the Supreme Court.
Singh highlighted that there are three comparable cases related to the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, the Sambhal mosque, and the Mathura-Vrindavan dispute, all of which are currently stalled in the Supreme Court. He emphasized the need to analyze the implications of the Bhojshala ruling.
He pointed out that Bhojshala is a monument protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and raised concerns that the ASI report does not mention any idols, which he described as alarming.
In light of the prevailing economic and social tensions in the country, Singh remarked that it is inappropriate to reignite Hindu-Muslim disputes at this time.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Indore bench recently ruled in favor of recognizing the Bhojshala complex as a temple, prompting a flurry of political reactions.
Following the High Court’s decision, the Hindu side has swiftly begun legal preparations. On Friday, Jitendra Singh Vishen, representing the Hindu side, filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court through his lawyer, Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha. The petition requests that no unilateral orders be passed regarding any potential appeals against the High Court’s decision without hearing the Hindu side.
Meanwhile, the Muslim side has also indicated plans to challenge the High Court’s ruling in the Supreme Court. Dhar city Qazi Waqaar Sadiq stated that they will approach the Supreme Court after thoroughly studying the ASI report.
