Lucknow, May 22: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s appeal for fuel conservation, Uttar Pradesh‘s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna walked home from his office on Thursday. During a media interaction, he emphasized that this initiative is not just a personal effort but a significant message regarding the country’s energy savings and proper fuel usage.
Suresh Khanna highlighted the ongoing requests from both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister to reduce dependence on fuels like petrol and diesel. He noted that this would directly benefit the country’s foreign exchange reserves and alleviate economic pressure on India amid current international circumstances. He stressed the importance of judicious use of energy resources in today’s global scenario.
He mentioned that the Prime Minister has consistently advocated for resolving international issues through dialogue, but sometimes situations arise where immediate solutions are not possible. In such cases, it becomes the responsibility of all citizens to support government policies and participate in fuel conservation campaigns.
Reflecting on his personal efforts, Khanna shared that last week he cycled to the assembly and returned the same way. This time, he rode a motorcycle to the assembly but walked back. He believes that small efforts can lead to significant changes, and if every citizen makes an effort to conserve fuel, it could lead to a substantial reduction in oil consumption nationwide.
He urged people to adopt habits like walking short distances, using bicycles, or avoiding unnecessary vehicle use. This would not only save fuel but also positively impact the environment.
Khanna also pointed out that with rising petrol and diesel prices, this issue is not just an economic burden but a national challenge. He called on every citizen to understand the country’s needs and contribute accordingly.
