Grand Mango Festival to Celebrate Taste and Culture in Bihar

Udaipur, June 6: The Bihar Agricultural University in Sabour, Bhagalpur, is set to host a grand two-day Mango Festival-2026 on June 27 and 28. This year’s theme is “A Confluence of Taste, Culture, and Prosperity.” The event will be inaugurated by Bihar’s Governor, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd).

A significant number of ministers from the state government, public representatives, agricultural scientists, entrepreneurs, progressive farmers, agricultural experts, and mango enthusiasts are expected to attend.

In preparation for the festival, an important meeting was held at the Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, on Saturday. During the festival, a national-level workshop will focus on “Quality Mango Production, Storage, and Processing Using Modern Technology.” Experts from various agricultural universities, research institutions, and agricultural organizations across the country will be invited to give lectures.

The workshop will cover the latest techniques in mango production, the effects of climate change, crop protection, post-harvest management, quality preservation, processing, value addition, branding, and modern marketing methods. A grand exhibition showcasing hundreds of mango varieties from across the country will also be held.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see rare and popular mangoes of various tastes, colors, shapes, and characteristics all in one place. Additionally, stalls related to mango-based products, processed foods, value-added products, agricultural startups, and agricultural innovations will be set up.

The organizing committee has urged mango-producing farmers to bring their best and unique mango varieties for the exhibition. The displayed mangoes will be evaluated by experts, and outstanding entries will be honored, providing farmers with a special opportunity to showcase their best mango varieties and receive awards.

A special “Farmer-Scientist Honor Ceremony” will also be held during the event, where outstanding mango-producing farmers from all four agricultural zones of Bihar will be recognized. Selected top mango producers from Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand will receive the “Best Mango Farmer Award.”

Vice-Chancellor Dr. D. R. Singh stated that this event is not just a celebration of mango taste but a comprehensive campaign to enhance farmers’ income, promote scientific innovation, agricultural entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and strengthen the rural economy. Scientists who have made significant contributions to mango research, innovation, extension education, and technology development will also be awarded special prizes.

An exciting “Mango Eating Competition” will be organized for mango lovers, with attractive cash prizes and mementos for the winners. This competition is expected to be a major attraction for visitors.
