Education Reform Essential for Lasting Change: Govind Dev Giri Maharaj

Kolkata, June 6: Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, trustee and treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, expressed his views on the history curriculum in schools and the presentation of Mughal-era history. He emphasized the need for reforms in the education system, stating that history should be presented accurately and in a balanced manner. He pointed out that certain elements have crept into the education system that are incorrect and need to be reviewed and removed.

Govind Dev Giri Maharaj mentioned that his views align with the thoughts and directives of Prime Minister Modi. He stressed that lasting change in any society or nation can only be achieved through education. If the education system is improved and existing errors are rectified, the future of the country can become even stronger.

During his address, he also referred to the political situation in West Bengal and the role of the Chief Minister. He stated that efforts should be made to revive the cultural and historical identity of the state. There should be preservation and creation of symbols and monuments that reflect local culture and traditions.

He suggested that there should be a reconsideration of the names of several places and historical references, particularly those associated with foreign invasions or rule. According to him, such changes would increase awareness of one’s roots and strengthen cultural identity.

Govind Dev Giri Maharaj emphasized the importance of religious faith and cultural pride. He stated that the soul of India lies in its culture, religion, and traditions, and it is everyone’s duty to strengthen these aspects.

He praised the leadership in West Bengal for the significant efforts being made to enhance cultural consciousness in the state. He urged those present to remain aware of their traditions, culture, and religious values and to pass them on to future generations.
