New Delhi, May 5: Political rhetoric has intensified following the meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and President Droupadi Murmu. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh spoke to a news agency, suggesting that Chief Minister Mann and his accompanying delegation should undergo a breath analyzer test to uphold the dignity and respect of the President’s office.
Chugh claimed that there have been incidents related to discipline at previous public events, making such precautions necessary. His statement has sparked a new debate in political circles.
He also targeted opposition parties, stating that when they win elections, there are no questions raised about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), but they blame the same machines when they lose. Chugh mentioned leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, and Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of making excuses instead of accepting their defeats. He emphasized that the public mandate is paramount and should be respected.
Chugh pointed out that in states like Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, or Karnataka, EVMs are deemed reliable when the opposition wins, yet questions arise when they face defeat. He described this as an insult to the people’s decision, framing it as a defeat of fear-based politics and a victory of trust under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta hailed the election results in West Bengal as a victory for women. She attributed this outcome to the blessings of Goddess Kali, stating that women in Bengal united to vote against fear and terror. According to her, this result marks a significant step towards establishing good governance in the state.
CM Gupta noted that women have strongly raised their voices against atrocities and ensured their participation in democracy. She warned that any leader who disrespects women’s power will face a stern response from the public, referencing leaders like M.K. Stalin who overlook women’s dignity and suffer political repercussions.
