Kolkata, May 14: Samik Bhattacharya, the West Bengal BJP state president, has responded to Mamata Banerjee‘s allegations regarding the High Court and demolition actions, stating that it is not the BJP government in the state, but the state government itself. He emphasized that in the past, the party and the government were united, but that is not the case this time.
Bhattacharya questioned the existence of any bulldozers in West Bengal, asking where they are operating. He reminded Banerjee of the BJP workers whose homes were demolished by JCB machines, asserting that no one was spared. He claimed that the homes of opposition members were destroyed by the TMC, which has now become a thing of the past.
He expressed a desire to move beyond these issues and focus on investment, job creation for the youth, and the welfare of farmers. Bhattacharya mentioned that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will eventually come to the state, but only the Chief Minister can specify when. He noted that while the party can share its views, the government’s stance is different.
He assured that the party’s position is known to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and the cabinet members, stating that there is no hidden agenda. Alongside ensuring government schemes reach the people, he also highlighted the government’s attention to issues involving multiple wives and children.
In a jab at Mamata Banerjee for appearing in court as a lawyer, Bhattacharya remarked that he expected her to approach the International Court. He recalled the aftermath of the 2021 election results, where 57 BJP workers were killed and 27 women faced atrocities, questioning the TMC’s whereabouts during those events. He concluded by stating that the public is laughing at her actions today, asserting that the rule of law is currently in effect.
