Thiruvananthapuram: Three courts in Kerala’s Kasaragod, Idukki, and Manjeri districts received bomb threats via email on Thursday, prompting a significant security response. The police have intensified security measures at the court premises following these threatening messages.
Early on Thursday, bomb threat emails were sent to the courts in Kasaragod, Idukki, and Manjeri. The messages claimed that a suicide bomber had planted three RDX explosives and warned authorities to evacuate the judges before noon. In response, police and bomb disposal squads conducted thorough searches at the Vidyanagar court complex in Kasaragod and the Idukki court premises, while increasing security in surrounding areas and following standard security protocols.
No explosive materials were found during the searches. Police investigations into the source of the emails are ongoing. The threat email sent to the Idukki court was reportedly claimed by a group named the ‘Tamil Liberation Organisation,’ a claim police are currently verifying.
Incidents of false bomb threats in Kerala have risen recently, leading the police to launch a statewide probe aimed at identifying those responsible and preventing similar threats in the future.
Meanwhile, in Bihar, a bomb threat targeting the Patna Civil Court on Thursday caused alarm. Following the email threat, security agencies evacuated the court premises as a precaution, temporarily suspending court proceedings. Lawyers, staff, and visitors were safely escorted out. The administration and police heightened security and began an investigation into the threat.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of all judicial facilities and personnel.
